Message from the President

Every child is born with exceptional talent. Like the pillar of a house, children are the building block of their nation. Therefore, it is the duty of each citizen to foster every child in our society to become an able citizen.

A set of unavoidable circumstances - natural disasters, the country's frail economy, and even the decade long Maoist-led war - have, unfortunately, forced thousands of children to adopt the life of orphans, thereby becoming quite vulnerable to drug trafficking, exploitation and other criminal activities. They are deprived of their fundamental child rights such as getting basic education. Sonrisa Orphanage Nepal (SON) - a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the needy and destitute children - aims to uplift these particular children, offering them the education and parental care that they lack.

As one of the founders, I owe a great deal to everyone, especially to Luisa Gonzalez (Spain), Ivan (France), Yohan Pour (UK) and Anna Chabin (Switzerland) for their sincere generosity from the very beginning of SON. It would not have been possible to even think of such a task without their encouraging response. My sincere gratitude also goes to my team members who are always greatly supporting me in every way.

As I recall the strenuous times we had at the beginning, it gives me an immense pleasure and satisfaction to see where we have reached. The children at SON have also taught me an invaluable lesson: to smile always, no matter how hard the time is - this inspires me to work more.

I believe that a small contribution can lead to a great change in the long run. So all of us, with the collective efforts from all sides, can bring about changes in our society and wider community. And I look forward to making things different in the very same way.

I appeal to every individual to march forward hand in hand towards reaching our goals.
