Children in Nepal are orphaned and abandoned for various reasons. Poor socio-economic status, domestic violence, untimely demise of their parents and natural disasters are main, among others. Unfortunately, thousands of these children are forced to adopt the very miserable life as a street-children ("KHATE"), thereby becoming quite vulnerable to drugs, trafficking, exploitation and other criminal activities or as a domestic slaves.

Sonrisa Orphanage Nepal (SON) — is a non-profit, non-political and non-government organization established in January 2007 with a mission to help the orphaned, abandoned and destitute children in all ways to lead a normal life that we are all entitled to.

SON is registered to District Administration Office (DAO), District Children Welfare Committee (DCWC), District Development Committee (DDC), Social Welfare Council (SWC).
