Children in Nepal are orphaned and abandoned for various reasons poor socio-economic status, domestic violence, untimely demise of their parents and natural disasters are the main, amongst others. Unfortunately, thousands of these children are forced to adopt the very miserable life as a street-children ("KHATE"), thereby becoming quite vulnerable to drugs, trafficking, exploitation and other criminal activities, or to end up as domestic slaves.
Sonrisa Orphanage Nepal (SON) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization established in January 2007 with the mission of helping the orphaned, abandoned and destitute children in every way so that they can lead the normal life that we all are entitled to.
SON is registered at the District Administration Office (DAO), the District Children Welfare Committee (DCWC), the District Development Committee (DDC) and the Social Welfare Council (SWC).
