We were lucky one of our visiting friends Umesh had his set of flutes with him. He played one folk song for the children. They loved it. You can see Jyoti and Kriti dancing towards the end. Sorry about the video quality, it was taken with a phone camera.
Swimming
We went swimming for the first time. It's now the children's favorite thing to do. Our volunteer Lindsey was with us. There wasn't a smaller pool at Balaju where we went and there weren't enough tubes to rent at the pool so the children were hanging on to Lindsey and Bill most of the time.
We now have received 15 life vests from Mr. Yuji Morishige, Sachiko's friend. However, we'll have to wait until next year when the days get hotter again.
We had three birthday parties. For Lakpa(12), Ong Chu(4) and Jaya(9). Birthdays are always fun, we have special dinner with lots of singing, dancing and a Big cake.
Dashain has been great. It's long holidays from school. Few of the children went to celebrate the festival with their families and relatives. Ten, stayed with us and we all had a great time. The children got to go to cinema and watched a Nepali movei "Kusumerumal'. They have been watching a lot of Nepali movies (their favorite) at home during their holidays.
We had a BBQ party. Children sang and danced. It was so much fun. Children received 'Tika'. We played card games.
Children are doing well. They are happy and growing very fast.
We renewed Sonrisa at District Administration Office (DAO), the District Children Welfare Committee (DCWC) and the District Development Committee (DDC).
Bishnu is currently in UK visit. He will be back in October 1st.
Visit to Swayambhu
We went to visit the famous Swyambhunath(Monkey Temple). It was a beautiful day and lots of fun.

Volunteers
We would like to thank our volunteers Mau(Spain) and Lindsey(U.S.A)
Mau brought us two violins as gift and children got violin lessons from her. Thank You, Lindsey and Mau for giving us a hand looking after our childrenand helping us with everyday household chores
Solar Power System
We are very delighted to inform you we have received Solar Power System as a gift from one of our dearest friends.
Power cut or populary known as 'load shedding' in Kathmandu is a big problem. Especially during the winter months when we have less rain and low water level, power generation capacity do not meet the demand. So, we only get few hours of electricity per day. We have to rely on candles and kerosene lanterns for lights. However, with the new solar lighting system, we can light cfl bulbs in all the children's rooms, study room, children can watch TV, and we can also do some work on a computer. With all these appliances runing, the battery lasts for 3 hours.
Life Vests
We have received 15 life vests for each of our 15 children from Mr.Yuji Morishige(Japan) website. We can't wait to go swimming again.
Ping Pong Table
We got a wonderful new ping pong table from our very good friend Mr. Yutaka Goto (Japan)
Sonrisa Card
We are very pleased to inform you that a couple of our friends in Canada, Donna and Sachiko have made and printed greeting cards from some of our children's drawings.
