Children
Jyoti & Saraswoti have started school. Joyti joined K.G. and Saraswoti got into grade 1. Their brothers and sisters at Sonrisa are helping the girls catch up with their studies.
Sonrisa has taken in three new boys to its family. We have now grown to family of 15 children.
The three boys - Jwala, Jaya & Kala have settled in comfortably with the brothers and sisters at Sonrisa. The boys have already joined their new school. They go to the same school where the other children go to. Jwala goes to grade 6, Jaya and Kala got into grade 1.

Tihar
Following Dashain, Tihar is another big festival of Nepal. Tihar is called festival of lights because people decorate their houses with many lights and flowers to invite good fortune to their homes.
Tihar is the most fun time for the kids because they get to sing 'Deushi/Bhailo' and get money in doing so from the people they are singing to. On the fifth day of Tihar, boys received 'bhai tika' from their sisters who pray to God for the safety of their brothers and in return the brothers gave the money they made from 'Deushi/Bhailo' to their sisters and pledged to protect them from any harm.
Girls helped make 'sale roti' (special donut) and flower garlands for the brothers and decorate home with flowers and lights.

Dashain
Dashain was celebrated all over Nepal in the month of October. Families get together for Dashain and children receive 'Tika' & Blessings from their elders.
It is our second Dashain together. Bishnu, our president got back from Switzerland just in time to be with us in Dashain. We had a wonderful time together. Children were very happy to receive 'Tika' & Blessings in their new cloths.
Our good friend and advisor Mr. Dilip Rai took us to children fun park in Vrikuti Mandap. Children were thrilled to try different rides.
We went to a nearby park so the children can play the traditional Dahsain Swing
Sachiko - Akio
Our very good freind and Sonrisa volunteer Sachiko Kojima from Vancouver, Canada was back with us for three weeks in September/October. Sachiko has been of great help to us, our staff and the children. We have learned a great deal from her and we are very grateful to her for all she has done to help and support us.
Four of our older kids, Srijana, Lakpa, Jwala and Sandeep got to go to a one day children's mediatation program with Sachiko. We would like to thank Guru Aama of "BHASSARA SCHOOL" for organizing such wonderful program for children.
Akio, Sachiko's husband visited Sonrisa with lots of goodies sent to us by many good people in Japan. Children love their new toys, arts-crafts material. We are very thankful to all people for such wonderful gifts.
It is our great pleasure to let all of you know that we no longer have to worry about hot water for children's shower. Sachiko and Akio raised fund on our behalf and bought us a new and wonderful Solar Water Heater. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all the generous friends of Japan who have contributed to buying the heater.

Bishnu Is Back
We are very happy to have Bishnu, our president back from his recent visit to Switzerland.
Read Bishnu's Note below.
It is my great pleasure to let you know it has been a very successful visit to Switzerland. I met many wonderful people through Anna and Franziska. They also arranged for me and Antuwan to go to Geneva to learn how to build a Solar Oven. At SOLEMYO, I had very good instructors, Allan and Michelle. It was fun, all of us students had to build one and learn how to properly pack for transport home. I have brought one to Sonrisa. I also had a great opportunity to lend a hand to Uersi and Ueli Hauenstein in their organic vegatable farm, where I learnt a great deal on how to grow BIO vegatables. At the same time, I also learnt to how to make compost from the waste that we can use in the vegetable garden.
A great friend of ours Ms. Luisa and Mr. Ivan came all the way from Paris to see me, despite their super busy life. It was very good to see them. Together we prepared a presentation for fundraising prgram in Zuric. With the help of Franziska and Anna, we held a fundraising program at Franziska's house. After Franziska's presentation on her travels, we had a slide show about Sonrisa. We cooked MO:MO and some curries as refreshments for the program. We believe our presentations went well and have sent the right message to the people at the event.
Franziska had a organization called "Living with Sun" and has been doing great work in Africa. Franziska, Rosmary and Anna has donated Parabolic Solar Cooker and Oven to Sonrisa.
Thank you all the great people whom I had the pleasure to meet with in Switzerland
