Basic Needs

Food

We are dedicating our efforts to providing good nutritious food for the children, something vital during their growing period. Currently, the food expenses are of NRs. 200 (~US$ 3.2) per day.

We are well aware that the current expenditure on food for the children is inadequate due to our limited resources. We are always trying to find local donors who can provide rations and food supplies, in which case we can count on additional fruit, milk and other extra food items.

Shelter

We live in a rented house in Chandole, which consists of three spacious bedrooms for the children, a big sitting room, a kitchen, an office, two bedrooms for the workers/volunteers, and a storeroom.

The orphanage is optimally furnished within the capacity of our economic resources. We have recently been able to improve the conditions in the house by incorporating carpets, drawers, cupboards, tables, chairs, water heating system, electric heater and a computer, and we are looking forward to further strengthening the financial status of the organization so as to be able to complete the list of our most important needs.

The house has some outdoors space on the ground floor and on the first floor, where children can play and do gardening, although it is a bit small for the all the recreational activities we would like to carry out with them.

Like the saying "every cloud has a silver lining", our very good friend and advisor Gyan B. Lama, Secretary of the DCWC, is negotiating with the government the provision of some land for our orphanage. We pray that we can get land where we can build our home, and we pray as well that we can keep on counting on your financial assistance – otherwise all this will just remain a dream.

Clothing

Some of our very generous friends have donated first and second-hand clothes, which, together with our initial budget, has allowed us to cover for the children clothes and school uniforms needed. We hope to be able to maintain this situation despite the fact that the children are growing quickly and need new clothes regularly.
